Back Story & Wine Information

Jakkalsvlei is situated 40km inland from the Indian Ocean next to the Langeberg Mountains. Our climate is warm and dry during the summer with the ocean cooling it down at night. Our annual rainfall is 400mm, slightly higher than the average for this area since the farm is situated next to the mountains, which makes it easier for the southeast rain clouds to gather up next to the mountain range. The vines are planted in different soil types, clay, shale and sandstone. The northern and southern slopes on the farm give us more options to plant different cultivars.

Pairing
Appetizers & Light Bites Sushi: The wine's fruitiness cuts through the richness of sushi. Prosciutto-wrapped Melon: A classic sweet/salty combo. Bruschetta: Fruity and fresh flavors work well. Avocado Toast: With goat cheese on toasted rye. Spicy & Savory Spicy Asian Cuisine: The sweetness balances fiery flavors in Thai curry or Szechuan dishes. Salty Hors d'oeuvres: Its sweetness contrasts nicely with salty bites. Cheeses Soft Cheeses: Brie, Gorgonzola, or soft goat cheese. Desserts & Brunch Fruity Desserts: Complements tarter fruits like grapefruit and passion-fruit. Brunch Alternative: A lighter, bubbly option for breakfast cocktails. Serving Tip Serve well-chilled to highlight its refreshing sweetness and fine bubbles.
