Kat is a fuller-style Sauvignon blanc, fermented and matured in French oak barrels for 10-12 months, depending on vintage. A splash of Semillon to our wood matured Sauvignon blanc demystifies her myth. Her well-developed structure and textured complexity matches the taste that can be expected from a Wine of Origin Sondagskloof.

More Information - Hermanuspietersfontein Kat Sauv Blanc

Appearance of bright, clear, live green straw, with an aroma of dried apricot, subtle oak and minerality, the palate is rich and textured, layered structure, complex. Fermented in 1st, 2nd and 3rd fill 500L French oak barrels on secondary lees; barrels rolled monthly.

Back Story & Wine Information

In the early 1800’s farmers from the Hemel-en-Aarde valley paid Hermanus Pieters, a Dutch teacher, in sheep to teach their children in the “Afrikaans” language. In 1855, long after his passing, the village is named after him – Hermanuspietersfontein. Later, in 1902 the postmaster shortened this long name to Hermanus.
