Back Story & Wine Information

Founded in 1692 as part of the famous Nooitgedacht farm, Kanu underwent various changes and an accumulation of history to become what it is today. As of 1997, the land and the wines became known as Kanu.

Pairing
Seafood Raw and lightly cooked: Oysters, lightly seasoned prawns, and fresh crab. Fish: Pan-seared fish like sole or sea bass, and seafood-based ceviche. Sushi: The high acidity complements the vinegary rice and delicate fish flavors in sushi. Kanu even offers a specific sushi and wine pairing. Other shellfish: Mussels with lemongrass and lemon zest, or steamed mussels. Salads and vegetarian Salads: Fresh salads with Parma ham and summer melon, or salads with goat cheese. Vegetables: Dishes featuring asparagus, peas, artichokes, or zucchini, as well as simple spring vegetable sides. Other Spicy dishes: The wine can cut through the heat in some spicy Asian or other classical spicy dishes. Cheeses: Young goat cheeses and goat cheese in puff pastry are excellent pairings.
