Babylonstoren Babel

Has beautiful freshness on the palate, with juicy, succulent black and red fruit underpinned by judicious use of French oak. It’s moreish without being over-easy, and impressive, though never intimidating.

More Information - Babylonstoren Babel

Babel consists of seven varieties, namely shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, malbec, petit verdot and pinotage. Shiraz is the largest component of the seven – between 30% and 50%, depending on the vintage.

Back Story & Wine Information

The story starts in 1692 as a historic wine and wheat farm in South Africa, named for its hill, “Babylon’s Toren,” reminding early settlers of the Tower of Babel due to diverse languages. Acquired by new owners in 2007, it underwent a major restoration, transforming its authentic, historic Cape Dutch farmyard and buildings into a modern luxury hotel, winery, and renowned botanical garden, blending deep history with contemporary design and a farm-to-table ethos.

Pairing
Babel pairs very well with oxtail, lamb chops or boerewors and, almost the best with dark chocolate.
