Hermanuspietersfontein Kleinboet Red Blend

The boisterous younger brother of the five varietal Bordeaux-blend styled Arnoldus has dark fruit and fynbos spice in his genes. His intense palate and bold structure does not disappoint. Small name for a grown-up wine with Wine of Origin Sondagskloof written all over him.

Back Story & Wine Information

In the early 1800’s farmers from the Hemel-en-Aarde valley paid Hermanus Pieters, a Dutch teacher, in sheep to teach their children in the “Afrikaans” language. In 1855, long after his passing, the village is named after him – Hermanuspietersfontein. Later, in 1902 the postmaster shortened this long name to Hermanus.

Pairing
Meat pairings Karoo lamb: This is a classic pairing, both grilled or roasted. Beef burgers: A homemade beef burger with melted cheddar is an excellent choice. Roast or grilled red meat: Other richly flavored cuts of red meat will also work well. Other pairings Hard cheese: The robust nature of the wine can stand up to hard cheeses. Dishes with savory, earthy notes: The wine’s flavor profile, which includes notes of herbs, spices, and berries, makes it a good match for dishes that feature these ingredients
