Back Story & Wine Information
fynbos: noun fyn·bos \ˈfān-ˌbȯs\
From Dutch, meaning fine leaved plants. A biome of southern coastal South Africa characterized by a diverse richness of endemic plant species.
The Cape Floral Kingdom is home to a truly astounding level of plant biodiversity with indigenous flowering plants numbering up to nine thousand species. Most of these are members of the group loosely called “fynbos.” Much like the vibrant cultures of South Africa, it’s a storm of colour and flavour, constantly blending in a potent mix of beauty and wonder.
As best friends and two aspiring wine and gin producers, it was all meant to be for Johan du Toit and Oliver Kirsten. Their obsessive love for the unique, incredible landscape and flora of the Western Cape of South Africa would be source of energy and innovation.
Their products are a sustainable celebration of the country they love.
Experience the flavours and aromas of South Africa’s natural beauty, the potential and power of African people and the symbolic ability of fynbos to thrive and prosper in adverse conditions.
Pairing
Roasted meats like filet mignon, duck breast, and lamb, as well as hearty dishes such as stews and braised lamb. It also complements grilled foods like steak, boerewors, and grilled vegetables, and pairs well with hard or blue cheeses.
