More Information - Babylonstoren Shiraz

The Babylonstoren Shiraz is a dry, full-bodied 100% single-variety red wine from the Simonsberg-Paarl slopes in the Western Cape, featuring rich layers of blackcurrant, new leather, wood spice, and white pepper.

Back Story & Wine Information

The story starts in 1692 as a historic wine and wheat farm in South Africa, named for its hill, “Babylon’s Toren,” reminding early settlers of the Tower of Babel due to diverse languages. Acquired by new owners in 2007, it underwent a major restoration, transforming its authentic, historic Cape Dutch farmyard and buildings into a modern luxury hotel, winery, and renowned botanical garden, blending deep history with contemporary design and a farm-to-table ethos.
