Back Story & Wine Information

Hoopenburg Wines was established by the Schmitz family in 1992 and is a boutique farm in Stellenbosch, South Africa, known for being the only estate where all grapes come from 100% bush vines. The story centers on a commitment to quality, sustainable practices, and creating world-class wines by capturing the natural balance of the unique, low-yielding bush vine vineyards.

Pairing
Meats and poultry Poultry: Roasted chicken, duck, and goose. Pork: Pork tenderloin, pork chops, and other tender pork dishes. Red meats: Steak, beef, and lamb, especially when grilled or prepared with herbs. Charcuterie: Cured meats on a charcuterie board are a great match, as the wine's acidity cuts through their richness. Fish Salmon: Grilled or roasted salmon is an excellent pairing, as the wine's acidity balances the fish's richness. Other fatty fish: Tuna and other meaty fish also work well. Vegetarian and other options Mushrooms: Any dish with mushrooms, from a simple sauce to risotto or grilled portobellos, is an ideal match to bring out the wine's earthy flavors. Cheese: Soft cheeses like Brie and Camembert, or medium-firm cheeses such as Gruyère, pair beautifully with Pinot Noir. Dessert: Chocolate-covered strawberries offer a unique and romantic pairing.
